2002 Standardbred mare

Sire: Lightning Speed

Dam: Patellis

April was born in Canada at Muzzy Ridge Stables. The filly of a mare my father once trained and bred and raised by a friend of Melissa's father. April went on to a successful racing career in both Canada and the United States with lifetime earnings of over $100,000. April retired from the track at the age of ten and went on to raise three foals. Her third and last foal, Bebe is here at Passchendaele Farm. April started her third career under saddle in 2018 after her third foal was born.

Stella

2006 Welsh Pony

Stella

Stella joined our family in 2011. Stella was rumored to be part of a Welsh herd disbursement sale following the death of her breeder. From there, she ended up at Camelot Auction in NJ where Melissa saw her potential and purchased her over the internet. Stella was initially purchased as a project pony to be resold after training. She was not even halter broke at the time. During training, Melissa quickly realized that she would not likely find another affordable pony of Stella's quality and temperament, and retained her for her daughter, who was not in need of a pony until a few years later. Stella quickly stole our hearts and was never listed for sale. Stella has competed locally and at New England Jumper Association events.

OT Alaric

2007 Dutch Warmblood cross gelding

Sire: Opus (Little Bit Farm, Inc.)

Dam: Tiger Moth

Alaric was bred and raised by Melissa. Out of Tiger Moth and sired by Opus, he was destined for a career in eventing. Financial and time constraints have unfortunately stunted his career, but he doesn't seem to mind. He had success showing locally and at New England Jumper Association events. We have schooled some advanced dressage test at home over the years, herded cows, and been on many trail rides. Alaric is always up for another adventure.

Loving and gorgeous, but also lives up to his reputation, testing fences, destroying buildings, and making my farrier hate him.

2018 Standardbred mare

Sire: Western Maverick (Dupuis Farm)

Sweet, smart, beautiful, and athletic. COVID kind of messed up her racing career, but she is an all-around wonderful riding horse.

In Loving Memory of Tiger Moth

Tiger.jpg

1992 Appaloosa/Thoroughbred Cross mare.

Sire: Charter Pilot

Dam: Candy Spots

Tiger was a successful eventer in her younger years, competing at prelim and training level with her previous owner. As she got older, her resume expanded to include a variety of experience from trail riding to lesson horse to team penning and barrel racing. At 29 years old, Tiger was mostly retired, but still enjoyed going on the occasional trail ride just prior to her death in November 2021.
